A better next loaf
starts with a few notes.
Capture the details you will want to remember. Download a text record you can edit, or print a blank sheet for the kitchen.
An observation, then a question.
For example, “I sliced the loaf 15 minutes after baking; the knife picked up sticky crumbs” records what happened. “Was the loaf still too warm to assess?” gives you a useful question. It does not prove the bread was underbaked or that hydration was too high. Leave conclusions open until you can compare the whole process.
Use the same record more than once.
Give each bake a date or batch name, keep photos under that name, and preserve the first record when you try a change. The download is plain Markdown text, which opens in a notes app or text editor. It contains exactly your entries under the field headings; there is no account or remote archive.
For measurements to calculate before you bake, use the dough calculator. For an estimated timetable, use the bake planner. To investigate a result, start with the symptom guide.
